Belonging at UCSF

An applicant's burning question is whether they are an ideal candidate. This is easily answered by wizened and enthusiastic insights from our faculty and staff on why you don't just "fit", but instead, belong at General Surgery's residency program here at UCSF.

Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence are UCSF's core values that each staff, learner and faculty emulate every day not just towards patients but to one another and the whole community. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has and always been more than a priority but a culture, lifestlye and legacy of the institution.

Moving to San Francisco

There is a lot that we see and learn when visiting places outside of our homes and comfort zone. This year with COVID-19 posing varied impacts on every aspect of our modern society, traveling to see if a city is somewhere you can live in for more than five years has been limited. UCSF staff, faculty and residents share their stories, hobbies and favorite nook and crannies of San Francisco.
